The Madhya Pradesh Council of Ministers, chaired by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, approved a series of significant development and welfare initiatives worth ₹5,960 crore during a cabinet meeting held in Bhopal. The decisions aim to accelerate the state's socio-economic growth, strengthen public welfare programs, and promote cultural and educational development across Madhya Pradesh.

Among the key decisions, the cabinet approved the continuation of the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah and Kalyani Vivah Sahayata Yojana for another five years beginning in 2026. A budget allocation of ₹1,740.57 crore has been sanctioned for the scheme, which provides financial assistance to eligible women and supports mass marriage ceremonies, thereby promoting social welfare and women’s empowerment.

Major Boost to Education Infrastructure

In a significant move to improve educational access and quality, the cabinet granted in-principle approval for the upgradation of 225 government middle schools into high schools and 300 high schools into higher secondary schools. The decision is expected to enhance educational opportunities for students, particularly in rural and underserved areas.

The council also approved the establishment of a new Government Law College in Shujalpur, located in Shajapur district. The initiative is aimed at expanding access to legal education and strengthening higher education infrastructure in the region.

Relief Measures for Farmers and Tribal Communities

The cabinet approved revised provisions under the Zero Percent Interest Short-Term Crop Loan Scheme, offering greater benefits and flexibility to farmers. The move is expected to strengthen agricultural activities and provide financial relief to the farming community.

Additionally, the government decided to provide the state’s share of funding for electrification projects in tribal regions under the PM Janman and Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan. The initiative seeks to improve infrastructure and living conditions in tribal areas by ensuring access to electricity and essential services.

Strengthening Public Distribution and Welfare Schemes

To ensure the smooth functioning of the Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS), the cabinet approved ₹3,580.07 crore for transportation and commission expenses. The allocation will help maintain the efficient delivery of food grains and other essential commodities to beneficiaries across the state.

The meeting also approved several proposals aimed at accelerating programs related to education, women’s empowerment, farmer welfare, and poverty alleviation. These decisions reflect the state government's commitment to inclusive development, social justice, and improving the quality of life for all sections of society.
