Preparations for the grand Simhastha 2028 gathering received a major boost on Saturday as Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav and Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal Khattar, conducted an extensive review of ongoing development works in Ujjain.

As part of the inspection, both the leaders visited the prominent route stretching from Maharaj Wada to the Mahakaleshwar Temple premises, assessing construction activities and beautification projects being undertaken ahead of the internationally renowned religious congregation. They also interacted with officials and issued necessary directions to ensure that the projects progress smoothly and are completed within the stipulated timeframe.
Focus laid on timely and quality execution
During the inspection, CM Dr Yadav emphasised that the state government is working on a comprehensive plan to make Simhastha 2028 grand, spiritually enriching and efficiently organised. He maintained that every aspect of infrastructure development is being carried out with the convenience of pilgrims in mind.
The state’s top political leader highlighted the importance of strengthening transport networks, sanitation systems, drinking water facilities, street lighting and other essential civic amenities. He instructed officials to maintain high construction standards and ensure that all development works are completed in a time-bound manner.
According to officials, the ongoing projects are expected to significantly enhance the city’s infrastructure and improve the overall experience for the millions of devotees who are expected to visit Ujjain during Simhastha 2028.

Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar also reviewed the progress of various projects and reiterated the commitment of both the Centre and the state government towards the city’s development.
He said that Ujjain is being developed as a modern religious and cultural hub equipped with advanced urban facilities while preserving its spiritual heritage. According to Khattar, Simhastha is not merely a religious event but also a significant opportunity to showcase the cultural identity of Madhya Pradesh and accelerate regional development.
Leaders review PM Ekta Mall facilities
Following the route inspection, both the leaders visited the PM Ekta Mall, where they reviewed the facilities available for visitors, exhibition spaces and arrangements for showcasing local products.
Officials briefed the leaders on the progress of the project and its operational framework. Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the arrangements while suggesting measures for further improvement and more effective management of the facility.
Senior administrative officials, public representatives and officers from various departments were present during the inspection. The visit reaffirmed the government’s resolve to expedite Simhastha 2028 preparations and position Ujjain as a world-class centre for religious tourism and cultural heritage.
