Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav on Monday commended the state police force for its notable achievements in curbing Naxalism and tightening the reins on digital and cyber offences. At the KF Rustamji Award distribution ceremony held at Bhopal’s Ravindra Bhawan, he noted that the force has adapted efficiently to modern challenges while maintaining law and order across the state. 

The Chief Minister, in his address, said that policing in the contemporary era demands both courage and technological acumen. The state’s Director General of Police (DGP), Kailash Makwana accorded a warm welcome to CM Dr Yadav at the event, where he was also given a Guard of Honour.

Awards distributed under three categories

Officials said that during the ceremony, awards were conferred for the years 2019-20 and 2021-22 under three categories, namely, Distinguished, Highly Distinguished and Commendable Service. As many as 101 cops of the state were felicitated for their dedication and outstanding contributions.

CM Dr Yadav congratulated the awardees, saying that their courage and efficiency had earned them recognition. He further said that the awards, instituted in honour of Padma Vibhushan KF Rustamji, would continue annually to inspire young police officers and reinforce the values of peace and security.

CM Dr Yadav outlined that Madhya Pradesh has managed to eliminate the long-standing threat of Naxalism, calling it a significant milestone achieved through sustained efforts. He commemorated Rustamju’s pioneering role in tackling dacoity and contributing to national security, including laying the foundation stone of the Border Security Force (BSF). 

He continued by saying that the state has implemented well-planned strategies to combat organised crime, ensuring public safety is not compromised.

Reaffirming the state government’s commitment to police welfare, the state’s top leader said that recruitment drives are underway, with new appointments expected this year for posts ranging from Sub-inspectors to Constables. Notably, 22,500 positions are vacant in the state police, with further recruitment planned next year. 

During this, CM Dr Yadav also stressed the importance of providing housing and better facilities for police personnel, describing them as an integral part of the state’s extended family.

DGP Kailash Makwana then took over the podium, saying that under CM Dr Yadav’s leadership, the police force of the state has achieved several milestones, including the rollout of the Dial-112 services and large-scale recruitment approvals. He added that preparations are also underway for the Simhastha 2028 event, with training and deployment plans in progress.
