Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav on Wednesday reached Burhanpur, where he called on traders and industrialists. During his interaction, he extended the MP government's unwavering support to them. The interaction took place at the city’s Parmanand Govindjiwala Auditorium, where the Chief Minister emphasised growth and resilience.
CM Dr Yadav asserted, “Our government stands with traders in every situation. Our entrepreneurs are like the phoenix, rising stronger after every setback,” expressing confidence that the business community would scale greater heights in the coming years.

New access route to be introduced for traders
On the occasion, CM Dr Yadav said that once, the country contributed close to 33% to global trade through commodities like spices, silk and metals. He underscored that the share dipped sharply after the colonial rule, but is seeing a resurgence now.
He then revealed that the state government is persevering in efforts to render cotton duty-free, which shall benefit the textile and related industries. Additionally, he announced plans to introduce a new access route to improve connectivity for traders.

CM Dr Yadav then credited Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi’s leadership for transforming India into a global economic force. He added that initiatives like the Jan Dhan scheme ensured direct financial inclusion, ramping up the nation’s economic fabric.
Burhanpur a gateway to development
Calling Burhanpur a gateway to development, the state’s top political leader said the district, despite its size, holds immense potential for industrial activities. He announced that a ‘Traders’ Welfare Board shall be constituted at the district level and hinted at organising a Nimar Investors’ Summit in the future.

Adding to this, he said that several outdated laws affecting businesses have been scrapped, while efforts are on to streamline coordination between departments, particularly in the power sector.
After the event, CM Dr Yadav told the media that the state government observed the year 2025 as the ‘Year of Industry,’ while 2026 is being observed as ‘Kisan Kalyan Varsh (Farmers’ Welfare Year).’ “Our aim is to ensure that industry, trade and agriculture grow together, driving both MP and India forward,” he said.
