Mukul Choudhary cricket journey: Extraordinary human-interest stories are coming to the fore during Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, and the latest one belongs to Mukul Choudhary, a rising star who propelled Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) to victory against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens on Thursday. His match winning blitz is as much about grit as it is about a father’s unwavering belief.

On Thursday, Mukul stunned fans with a breathtaking 54 off just 27 deliveries against KKR. His late onslaught powered LSG to a remarkable 54 runs in the final 4 overs, turning the tide in Lucknow’s favour.

Moments after the victory, Mukul attributed the performance to his father, Dalip Choudhary, saying he was the man who made it all possible.

Mukul’s cricketing journey was planned before his birth

After the match, Dalip struck an emotional chord, revealing that his son’s cricketing journey was planned even before his birth. He said, “If I had a son, I wanted him to play cricket,” recalling his determination from as early as 2003.

Mukul, from a young age, was groomed with a singular vision; to make rapid strides in cricket, no matter the odds.

Dalip continued by saying that he came from a modest background, and sold his house for Rs 21 lakh. He also took multiple loans to fund Mukul’s cricket training. He shockingly revealed that financial strain even landed him in jail for a brief period, owing to missed loan repayments. Despite facing social backlash and being labelled ‘mad’ by relatives, Dalip remained resolute. He added, “Those harsh words only strengthened by belief.”

Mukul’s IPL journey was not so smooth in the beginning. He was picked for Rs 2.60 crore, and his early performances, including a missed opportunity against the Delhi Capitals, left him frustrated. But he promised redemption. Against KKR, he delivered emphatically. Now, with IPL success finally within reach, the young cricket icon has a clear goal; to repay his father’s loans and honour the sacrifices that shaped his career. In a tournament known for unearthing talent, Mukul Choudhary’s story stands out as a powerful reminder that behind every big hit, lies an even bigger struggle.
