While chasing a daunting target of 196, the team stunned the blue jersey men in a high-scoring Indian Premier League( IPL) 2026 clash.

Opting to bat first, Mumbai posted a competitive 195/6, riding on a sensational 112* off 60 deliveries from Quinton de Kock. The left-handed batter anchored the innings in a scintillating way, smashing seven sixes and eight boundaries while maintaining a sound strike rate. Earlier, Mumbai had stumbled early at 12/2, but de Kock found solid support in Naman Dhir, who struck a blistering 50 off 31 deliveries. The duo stitched together a crucial 122-run partnership for the third wicket, steadying the innings.
However, despite the strong platform, Mumbai failed to gain pace in the death overs. Arshdeep Singh starred with the ball for Punjab, returning impressive figures of 3/22, while Marco Jansen maintained control with a tidy spell.

Punjab Kings, responding to the 195-run innings, approached the chase with aggression and clarity. After a brisk start from the openers, the match swung decisively in their favour through a dominant middle-order stand. Prabhsimran Singh led the charge from Punjab’s side with 80* off just 39 deliveries, producing his half century in a mere 23 balls. He was ably supported by skipper Shreyas Iyer, who compiled a stylish 66 off 35 balls. The pair combined for a match-winning 139-run partnership for the third wicket, dismantling Mumbai’s bowling attack with calculated aggression.

PBKS seal victory with authority
Punjab’s chase was marked by splendid control, as they raced to 100 in under 10 overs, and crossed 150 by the 13th, clasping the required run rate firmly throughout. The visitors eventually sealed the victory in just 17.3 overs, finishing at 196/3 and underscoring their dominance with both bat and strategy.
