As early trends in the West Bengal and Assam assembly elections 2026 indicate a sweeping victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav expressed optimism and extended vote of congratulations to the party’s workers, as well as the voters alike. He remarked that the electoral momentum reflects a broader shift in the sentiments of the general public, with the saffron party emerging as a dominant force across regions.

The Chief Minister said that the results appearing on counting day validate pre-poll surveys, most of which had forecast a strong showing for the BJP. He further said that the party’s flag is ‘flying high everywhere,’ signalling widespread public endorsement.
CM slams TMC, Bengal’s political legacy
During this, CM Dr Yadav launched a sharp critique of the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) and alleged that governance failures, coupled with administrative collapse had led to discontent among Bengal’s public. He argued that the state, which was recognised for its progressive development before gaining Independence, had been derailed due to successive regimes.
He opined that the political trajectory, from the Congress to the Left, and subsequently the TMC, has contributed to a purported breakdown of law and order. He also took a dig at West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, saying that when Mamata becomes ruthless, there is a price to be paid.

Victory attributed to voters
CM Dr Yadav described the outcome of the election as a decisive response to what he called misgovernance under the TMC. He lauded the voters in Bengal for their resilience and participation in the democratic process despite challenges such as violence and instability.
He then shed light on Assam’s electoral trends, underlining that ‘nationalist forces’ have once again secured a mandate against infiltration, reinforcing the BJP’s narrative of strong governance and national security.
Towards the end, the Chief Minister credited the party’s success in West Bengal to the leadership of Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and party president Nitin Naveen, alongside the pressing efforts of the grassroots workers. According to CM Dr Yadav, a wave of good governance is sweeping across the country, driving the BJP’s continued electoral success.
