IPL 2026 GT vs LSG: Jos Buttler, a resurgent England batter, and in-form skipper Shubhman Gill delivered commendable half-centuries as Gujarat Titans (GT) secured a smooth seven-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 match on Sunday. At the Ekana Cricket Stadium, Gujarat, while chasing a modest 165, easily outnumbered the target, with eight balls to spare.

Buttler finds rhythm after lean patch

England’s Jos Buttler, who has endured a difficult run in recent months, struck a fluent 60 off 37 deliveries, peppered with 11 boundaries. He stitched a crucial 84-run stand for the second wicket alongside Gill, whose composed 56 anchored the innings steadily.

Reflecting on his return to form, Buttler admitted to technical struggles in recent outings, including a disappointing campaign in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. He said post-match, “I’ve had a lean patch, but it’s good to contribute again. I’ve worked on my basic and pre-delivery movements.”

GT faces brief wobble

Despite the strong partnership, GT faced a wobble for a brief period when both Gill and Buttler fell within six deliveries, offering a glimmer of hope to Lucknow. However, Washington Sundar (21*) and Rahul Tewatia (10*) held their nerve to guide the visitors home in 18.4 overs.

IPL 2026 GT vs LSG: Prasidh Krishna’s spell sets the tone

Earlier, pace spearhead Prasidh Krishna laid the foundation for Gujarat’s win with a brilliant spell of 4/28; notably, his best figures in T20 cricket. His disciplined bowling ensured Lucknow remained restricted to 164/8 after being sent in to bat first. The hosts struggled to convert starts into substantial scores, with Aiden Markam scoring the highest runs (30).
