IPL 2026 GT vs CSK: A scintillating knock from Gujarat Titans’ (GT) Sai Sudharsan propelled Gujarat Titans to a commanding 8-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 37th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 at Chennai’s Chepauk stadium on Sunday.

GT cruised home while chasing a modest target of 159 in just 16.4 overs, attributed to Sudharsan’s fluent 87 off 46 deliveries. The left-handed batter, fresh off a century in his previous clash, once again anchored the innings with authority, striking seven sixes.
IPL 2026 GT vs CSK: Rabada, Siraj send Chennai reeling
Earlier in the evening, Gujarat Titans skipper Shubhman Gill opted to bowl first. The pace duo of Kagiso Rabada and Mohammed Siraj dismantled CSK’s top order by unleashing a fiery powerplay spell.
Consequently, Chennai slumped to 28/3 inside six overs, marking their third-lowest powerplay in the campaign, as Rabada led the charge with 3/25. Siraj and Jason Holder maintained relentless pressure, conceding runs at less than one run per ball.
CSK skipper Gaikwad fights lone battle
Despite the early falter, CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad produced a resilient 74* off 60 balls, carrying his bat through the innings. He battled challenging conditions, coupled with regular wickets at the other end, and anchored the innings, but struggled to accelerate. He received a brief support from Jamie Overton, who chipped in with a quickfire 18 off six balls. However, CSK’s below-par total of 158/7 never truly looked imposing on a surface offering pace and bounce.
GT’s bowlers choked CSK’s scoring rate, denying them a boundary for 5 overs and delaying their half-century until the 12th over.
Clinical chase seals victory
In response, Gill extended a brisk start before Sudharsan took the centre stage. Alongside Jos Buttler, he stitched together a match-winning partnership that dismantled CSK’s bowling attack with ease.

GT’s approach was measured yet effective, as they reached the 100-run mark quicker than CSK had brought up their 50. The emphatic victory elevated Gujarat Titans to the fifth place in the IPL 2026 standings, with five wins from eight matches. Meanwhile, CSK slipped to the sixth position, managing just three victories in the same number of games.
