Fresh developments have emerged in the probe linked to the death of former actor-model Twisha Sharma, as a key witness alleged on Monday that he was assaulted and threatened by Samarth Singh, the husband of the now-dead newly-wed woman. The allegations surface at a crucial stage of the investigation, as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) continues to ascertain the circumstances surrounding Sharma’s death at her marital home in Bhopal on May 12, 2026.

Witness alleges assault captured on CCTV

The victim, named Neeraj Dubey, operates a beauty parlour near the house of Samarth’s mother, Giribala Singh in Bhopal’s Katara Hills area. He alleged that he was attacked on May 30 by a group of five men.

Dubey claimed the group confronted him over his role as a witness in the case and assaulted, as well as threatened him.

According to Dubey, he had been named as a witness during the preparation of the Panchnama in Twisha’s death probe. He further alleged that the attackers questioned why he had been cooperating with investigators and threatened him of dire consequences.

He went on to say that the entire incident had been captured on the CCTV cameras installed in the area. Since becoming associated with the investigation, Dubey said he had been facing relentless intimidation. He named one of the persons involved in the assault-threat incident as Sandeep Bhattacharya.

Police complaint yet to yield action: Dubey

Following the alleged assault, Dubey said he had submitted a written complaint to the cops, seeking action against the accused. However, he claimed that the action was yet to materialise, adding that police officials have assured him of taking appropriate steps.

He further said that he was subsequently called to the police station in connection with developments arising from his complaint.

CBI recreates crime scene

Notably, Dubey levelled allegations on the same that when the CBI carried out a detailed reconstruction of events linked to Twisha’s death. The CBI sleuths, accompanied by forensic experts and crime-scene specialists, used a dummy of similar weight to Sharma. Thereafter, they asked Samarth Singh and Giribala Singh to reconstruct the events leading up to the incident.

The agency is persevering in efforts to establish a precise timeline of what transpired before and after Sharma was found hanging.

Sharma’s family still raising questions

According to the FIR, Samarth informed investigators that Twisha had hanged herself at home and was rushed to AIIMS Bhopal, where doctors pronounced her dead upon arrival.

After recording statements from Sharma family and examining medical findings, the police registered an FIR on May 15. Meanwhile, her family has alleged that she faced physical and mental harassment over dowry demands after her marriage to Samarth on December 9, 2025.

The FIR also references claims that Twisha spoke to her mother on the night of May 12, during which Samarth was allegedly heard shouting before the call ended abruptly. Her kin alleged that subsequent calls made to her were answered by her mother-in-law Giribala, who informed them that their daughter was ‘no more,’ before ending the conversation.
