Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah MP: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav on Sunday attended a mass marriage event organised in Ujjain under the Mukhyamantri Kaya Vivah-Nikah Yojana. On the occasion, he extended blessings to 23 couples who got hitched, and presented two-wheelers to the brides as part of a state welfare initiative. 


The event was held at the city’s Kartik Mela ground. It coincided with the occasion of Parshuram Jayanti. The Chief Minister greeted the couples personally, showered flower petals upon them, and extended his wishes from a happy and prosperous married life.

Two-wheelers gifted to provide mobility


The two-wheelers were gifted to the brides with the aim to provide them greater mobility and support, as they begin their new lives. The attendees lauded the move and viewed it as a practical, as well as an empowering step. 


As many as 23 couples solemnised their marriages at the event, conducted in a simple yet traditional manner.

Speaking at the event, CM Dr Yadav shed light on the importance of mass weddings in curbing unnecessary expenditure and promoting social harmony. He added that such initiatives encourage simplicity and collective celebration, reducing the financial burden associated with weddings. 


He remarked, “Marriage is one of the most important rituals in our culture. Mass wedding ceremonies not only result in saving money, but also allow families to share their joy together. Such events strengthen social unity and should be organised from time to time.”

Projects valued at Rs 57.91 crore launched


Following this, CM Dr Yadav also performed the groundbreaking ceremony for seven development projects carrying an outlay of Rs 57.91 crore, by means of a single-click digital inauguration. The projects seek to contribute to civic improvements and infrastructure development in the region. 


Referring to the significance of Akshaya Tritiya being observed nationwide, CM Dr Yadav noted that the day is considered highly auspicious in Hindu tradition. He said, “Any auspicious work undertaken on this day yields positive and lasting results. I hope this day proves extremely fruitful and fortunate for all newly married couples.”
