MP mass marriages: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav on Saturday virtually attended a community wedding programme organised in the state’s Shajapur district under the Mukhyamantri Kanyadan Yojana. On the occasion, he termed mass marriage ceremonies as a strong symbol of social unity.



200 couples solemnise marriage


Under the initiative, as many as 200 couples solemnised their marriages, and the event was held at the Agricultural Produce Market Committee No. 3 from 10 am onwards. It proceeded in Shujalpur town of the Shajapur district. The initiative, as per government officials, is a part of the welfare scheme aimed at supporting economically weaker families.

CM Dr Yadav extends blessings to newlyweds


CM Dr Yadav attended the programme virtually from his official residence in Bhopal and extended his blessings to the newlyweds. He wished them a happy and prosperous married life. Addressing the gathering, he said, “Mass marriages reflect the spirit of social harmony and unity. I am delighted that 200 couples have begun a new chapter of life through this collective ceremony.” 



162 marriages held through Hindu traditions, 38 Nikahs conducted


As many as 162 couples got married as per Hindu rituals, while 38 Muslim couples were united through Nikah at the venue. CM Dr Yadav expressed joy over the successful completion of the event and reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring dignity, social security and empowerment for the state’s daughters. He said, “The state government remains committed to the respect, empowerment and social protection of every daughter.” 



Ministers remain in attendance


Several public representatives, as well as ministers, such as Higher Education Minister Inder Singh Parmar, other local leaders and officials were in attendance at the event. As part of the wedding celebrations, a traditional marriage procession resembling a baraat was also taken out for the brides and grooms who got hitched.
