MP IAS reshuffle: After a prolonged period of deliberation, the Madhya Pradesh government on Thursday late night executed an administrative reshuffle. As per the list released by the government, 26 IAS officers have been transferred, which include Collectors of 14 districts of the state. The move comes after a series of high-level meetings aimed at streamlining governance across Madhya Pradesh.
Priyank Mishra named new Collector of Bhopal
Among the most notable appointments, 2013-batch IAS officer, Priyank Mishra has been named the new collector of Bhopal, succeeding Kaushalendra Vikram Singh. Mishra served as the Collector of Dhar for over three years and four months, and is recognised as one of the longest-serving collectors in a single district. Notably, extensive discussions were held between MP Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav and Chief Secretary Anurag Jain, following which the list was finalised.

Meanwhile, Kaushlendra Vikram Singh has been appointed as the Secretary to CM Dr Yadav. He has also been entrusted with the additional charge of Town and Country Planning (T&CP), a portfolio that had been under consideration for him for nearly two months.

According to sources, earlier there were differences between CM Dr Yadav and CS Jain regarding key postings, particularly for the roles of Bhopal Collector and Commissioner. However, the duo reached a consensus on Mishra’s appointment. However, the name of the 2005-batch IAS officer, Sanjeev Singh, has not been mentioned in the list, who serves as Bhopal Divisional Commissioner.

Mishra elevated due to outstanding performance in Bhojshala case
Mishra’s elevation as Bhopal collector is being viewed as recognition of his handling of the sensitive Bhojshala issue in Dhar. Though he was a contender for the post of Indore Collector, he continued in Dhar after another officer was appointed to Indore six months ago.
Another major reshuffle is expected soon. Officials suggest that changes at the level of Additional Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary and Secretaries are likely to take place shortly. Meanwhile, a separate list involving senior IPS officers is also said to be nearly ready, with transfers of Superintendents of Police (SPs) and field-level officers, including Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), anticipated within the next few days. Adjustments are also on the cards for DIG and IG levels.
