Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav on Friday launched the official website for the proposed Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Madhya Pradesh, describing the move as a historic initiative aimed at strengthening public participation in the legal reform process.
The Chief Minister unveiled the website at the state secretariat and said Madhya Pradesh had become one of the pioneering states to create a dedicated digital platform for gathering public feedback on the issue. Citizens can submit their suggestions on the portal till June 15, 2026.

He added that the initiative to collect opinions from across the state regarding the Uniform Civil Code was highly commendable, and asserted that the newly developed website would play an important role in ensuring wider public engagement and making the consultation process more transparent and accessible.
Public consultation process to be expanded across districts
The Chief Minister continued by saying the outreach activities of the state-level committee on Uniform Civil Code across various districts would further simplify and strengthen the process of collecting suggestions from citizens.
Congratulating members of the committee for developing the portal, he termed the move a “historic beginning” and said the effort aligned with the broader vision initiated by Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi for reforms related to a common civil framework in states.

He observed that the need for comprehensive legal reforms in matters related to family laws had been felt since Independence. According to the Chief Minister, a detailed study of existing family laws was essential to safeguard citizens’ rights and ensure fairness in legal provisions.
Suggestions from all sections to be examined
The Chief Minister said opinions and recommendations from the public, political parties, social organisations and other stakeholders would be received respectfully and examined systematically before any recommendations are finalised.
He further said Madhya Pradesh would fulfil the responsibility of “Ek Vidhi” in line with the spirit of “One Nation, One Constitution, One Symbol”. Calling the proposed Uniform Civil Code people-centric, he praised the high-level committee constituted for the exercise.
The state government will study the legal, administrative and social aspects related to marriage, maintenance, divorce, succession and family laws before preparing its recommendations. The official portal for submitting public feedback is available at ucc.mp.gov.in, where suggestions can be submitted until June 15, 2026.
The programme was virtually addressed by Ranjana Prakash Desai, who chairs the committee on Uniform Civil Code in Madhya Pradesh. Chief Secretary Anurag Jain and several senior officials were also present during the event.
