Chhindwara bus accident: In the aftermath of the bus crash in Chhindwara that claimed 10 lives on Thursday evening, and inflicted injuries on more than 20 people, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav will visit the district on Friday. According to reports, he has departed for Bhopal from Delhi and will proceed to Chhindwara directly from Bhopal after the touchdown.

CM monitoring situation through control room


Officials said that CM Dr Yadav has been monitoring the situation through a control room, and is regularly taking updates on the condition of the injured persons. Altering his pre-scheduled Delhi itinerary, CM Dr Yadav decided to personally visit the accident site and call on the victims, reflecting his responsiveness and accountability during the crisis. 


Officials added that the CM will take stock of the relief arrangements and will provide on-ground support to those affected in the crash. 



Minister Rakesh Singh was instructed to rush to Chhindwara


No sooner did the bus crash unfold in Chhindwara than CM Dr Yadav directed Minister Rakesh Singh to rush to the district. Additionally, a team of specialist doctors from Jabalpur had also been dispatched to assist local medical teams. The CM directed doctors to ensure the best possible treatment for all injured persons. He also announced an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh each to the kin of the deceased, and Rs 1 lakh for the family of the injured persons.

Chhindwara bus accident: Details of the crash


The accident transpired on Thursday late evening near Simaria on Nagpur Road, where a bus ferrying 40 passengers collided with a truck and overturned, resulting in casualties. Officials said that three women, six men and a kid were among those who died. Kotwali Police station in-charge Ashish Kumar said that emergency services were rushed to the spot soon after the incident was reported. Victims were returning from a public event attended by CM Dr Yadav.
