MP CM in Kolkata: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav on Saturday reached West Bengal’s capital, Kolkata, and intensified his outreach ahead of the Assembly polls in the state. He undertook an extensive grassroots campaign across Kolkata’s lanes, alleys and neighbourhoods, and asserted that the state is ready to embrace ‘progress and change.’
During his visit, he interacted with residents in Kamarhati, covering Ward numbers 24 and 112. He waded through the narrow lanes and reached out to households and shopkeepers alike, engaging in direct conversations with them. He also listened to civic concerns during this.

While interacting with the residents, CM Dr Yadav assured them that the BJP-led government would push welfare initiatives. He emphasised that West Bengal, which as per him, as lagged behind in development for years, would see a renewed momentum under a ‘double-engine government.’
He said, “Every section of the society will see real transformation in their lives,” while expressing hope that the state could achieve faster growth with aligned governance at both the state, as well as central levels.
CM slams TMC and left
In an interaction with media-persons, CM Dr Yadav painted a grim picture of the interior localities in Kolkata, asserting that the TMC had sent the state in ruins. He cited issues like poverty, migration and unemployment, while alleging that a lack of job opportunities there has forced the youth to leave the state in pursuit of livelihoods.
He further criticised the ruling All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Communist Party of India (Marxist), accusing successive governments of derailing Bengal’s development. He remarked, “West Bengal was once among the best-performing states, but earlier Communist regimes and later the TMC have pushed it into decline.”

Calls raised for political change
Further in his statements, CM Dr Yadav elaborated on Bengal’s immense potential and opined that the state’s people now seek liberation from the current regime, and aspire to align with National growth under the leadership of Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi. He stressed that empowering farmers, youth, women and economically weaker sections (EWS) remains central to the government’s agenda. He urged voters to support political change, saying, “For Bengal’s resurgence, the state needs a BJP government.”
