Crime news: The Bengaluru police arrested a Kannada actress on Monday on charges of killing her live-in partner with the help of two accomplices, they said, adding that the accused left the body in a rented flat in the city. According to the police, the accused committed the crime on February 18, 2026, but it came to light on Monday after the neighbours sensed a foul smell emanating from the locked house.

When the police broke into the rented accommodation, they discovered the man's decomposed body, and arrested the accused after launching a manhunt.

Accused identified as Bindu, made brief appearances in films

The police said that the key accused has been identified as Bindu, who made brief appearances in several Kannada films such as Bajrangi, Police Quarters and Kalabhairava, besides featuring in television serials.

Love triangle triggers crime

According to police, the man who was killed has been identified as Mohan Krishna. He was a small-time financier. The police learnt that he had parted ways with his wife, and was in a live-in relationship with Bindu.

The couple had moved into a house falling under the jurisdiction of Bengaluru’s Bagalagunte Police Station a few months ago. As they had promised the landlord to vacate the house soon, no agreement was drawn up. The investigating police officials said that Bindu had developed a relationship with a man named Vinay, who also expressed his desire to marry her.

Fearing obstruction from Krishna’s side, the duo hatched a plan to kill him.

Party takes a gory turn at rented accommodation

On February 18, 2026, Bindu and Krishna hosted a party at their rented accommodation, where they invited Vinay and his friend Dhanush. Under the inebriation of alcohol, Krishna allegedly mounted a sexual assault on Bindu. Enraged due to this, Vinay flashed a knife and stabbed Krishna repeatedly. The trio then wrapped a cello tape around his mouth and nose, resulting in his death due to suffocation. Following the incident, they locked the house and fled.

The police said they traced the cell phone location of the accused trio, and also scanned their call data records, to swoop down on them on Monday. The accused trio was booked under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyay Samhita and was arrested, the police added.
