Tamil actress and former nurse Julie has levelled fresh and serious allegations against supporters of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister (CM) Vijay’s party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), claiming that sustained online harassment and trolling by them caused her immense mental distress, leading to her miscarriage.

Addressing media-persons, Julie said she has already filed a police complaint in this regard, specifically naming several people whom she believed orchestrated a campaign of online abuse and defamation.

Her remarks have ignited fresh debate over the impact of social media harassment and the responsibility of public figures, as well as political organisations in curbing abusive behaviour among supporters.

Complaint filed against 8 people

Julie elaborated on her statements, revealing that she filed a police complaint in March 2026 against 8 persons over alleged online harassment. She said she was later informed that the matter had been classified as civil defamation rather than criminal defamation.

She further claimed that she became aware of certain procedural developments in the case only after the government changed in the state. She also alleged that following the complaint, social media platforms were flooded with accusations linking her to an alleged Rs 15 lakh kidney scam.

She maintained that the allegations were baseless and were part of a coordinated effort to tarnish her reputation.

“I lost my first child,” says Julie

She reflected on the personal impact of the controversy, saying that she had got married recently and was expecting her first child. Narrating her ordeal, she said that constant trolling, abuse and defamatory content circulating online against her pushed her into severe psychological distress, which she believes contributed to her miscarriage.

Julie also claimed that women who speak about TVK often become targets of character assassination on social media.

Actress holds Vijay responsible

In a strongly-worded remark, Julie said actor-politician and Tamil Nadu CM Vijay bore the moral responsibility for her loss, though she clarified that he was not directly involved. According to her, a simple public appeal from Vijay asking supporters to exercise restraint from online abuse could have prevented the situation from escalating.

During her interaction with the reporters, she noted that her original complaint had been filed when the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) was still in power. However, she argued that the present TVK government has a responsibility to ensure the matter is properly investigated.

As of now, neither Vijay nor the TVK has responded to the allegations.
