The Kerala Story 2 news: The Kerala High Court (HC) on Friday lifted the interim stay from the Vipul Amrutlal Shah-produced film, 'The Kerala Story 2,' granting the liberty to the film makers to go ahead with its release. Notably, on Thursday, a day before the film's release, the Kerala HC had observed that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) had certified the film due to 'non-application of mind.'

Division Bench gives nod to theatrical release

A division bench of the Kerala HC on Friday gave the nod to the film for theatrical screening, thereby overturning the order imposed on its release on Thursday. Film's producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah, however, challenged the interim stay order pronounced by Justice Bechu Kurien Thomas.

The Kerala Story 2 news: Makers announce movie's release on Friday night

Shortly after the division bench pronounced the verdict, which set the film free from the shackles, the film makers confirmed in a press conference that the film will release on Friday night. They added that the tickets for the movie are live on various online booking platforms, such as BookMyShow.

Film in troubled waters since teaser launch

Since the film's teaser had been released, it had drawn flak from a huge number of people, who called it a 'propaganda film.' However, the makers have maintained that all the scenes portrayed in the film are based on 'real-life' case studies.

A petitioner named Sreedev Namboodiri had sought revocation of the movie's U/A certificate from the Kerala HC, alleging that it showed Kerala in a bad light and could fuel communal disharmony. With the film cleared for release now, its fate rests with the audiences as the makers anticipate a humongous box office collection.
