Indian Wells ATP Masters: World No. 2 Jannik Sinner produced a determined and composed performance to eliminate Daniil Medvedev in straight sets on Sunday, seizing his first-ever Indian Wells ATP Masters 1000 title. The Italian player edged the final 7–6 (8/6), 7–6 (7/4) in a pulsating match that showcased his strong serving and resilience.
The victory marked Sinner’s first title of the year, which he achieved after a tense battle where neither player managed to break the other’s serve.
“Kept believing and kept pushing”: Sinner

Sinner maintained an unwavering belief in the match, as both sets went the distance, eventually overcoming Medvedev’s challenge. Sinner said after the match, “I kept believing and kept pushing,” adding how he raised his level at crucial moments to close out the contest. Sinner delivered a clinical performance, and did not face even a single break point throughout the 1-hour and 55-minute encounter. His serve proved decisive, making him claim 43 of the 47 points when his first serve landed in. Medvedev sealed his opportunities in the opening set when he saved two break points in the seventh game. However, he was unable to face Sinner’s aggressive forehand deliveries and powerful serving. The tiebreak in the second set appeared to sail in Medvedev’s favour, when he raced to a 4-0 lead, capitalising on one of Sinner’s rare double faults. Sinner yet staged a notable comeback, reeling off consecutive points to turn the tide and seal the championship. With the victory, Sinner joined Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer as the only players to win all six ATP hard-court Masters 1000 tournaments. Russian player describes the result as ‘Bittersweet’
Despite the defeat, the Russian player acknowledged the positive aspects of his campaign. He had entered the final with strong momentum after claiming the Dubai Tennis Championships and getting the better of Carlos Alcaraz in the semi-finals. He termed the result as ‘bittersweet’, underlining that Sinner’s exceptional serving made returning extremely difficult. Meanwhile, Sinner had already shifted his focus to the upcoming Miami Open, the next stop in the prestigious Sunshine Double.
