The controversy linked to ‘Kala Hiran,’ a film inspired by the long-standing blackbuck poaching case allegedly involving actor Salman Khan, went up a notch on Thursday after the film’s producer Amit Jani tore up the legal notice which the former had served to the latter earlier. While committing the act, Jani also challenged Khan to pursue further legal action.

Jani releases video on Thursday

In a provocative video statement released on Thursday, Jani was seen ripping apart the legal notice allegedly issued by Khan’s team. He accused Khan of attempting to silence him through legal pressure and asserted that he would ‘not be intimidated.’

He said in the video, “Jawab de diya hai, jisey bhejna hai bhejo (I have responded, send whoever you want to,” signalling his refusal to back down despite mounting pressure over the project.

Producer says he is not afraid of anyone

Jani said he has been receiving death threats ever since the announcement of the project. Despite the alleged threats, he maintained that he remains undeterred and intends to resume the project. He also slammed Khan for taking the legal recourse and made disparaging remarks about his supporters.

His latest comments follow a series of social media posts in which he accused the ‘Dabangg’ actor of using legal notices as a tool for intimidation. Earlier, Jani shared a post on Facebook, in which he opined that such notices are often intended to create fear and force people into submission. He claimed that he would not yield to pressure and insisted that attempts to silence him would fail.

He then took to ‘X’, where he alleged that the legal notice amounted to a form of threat designed to halt the film’s progress.

Backdrop of Kala Hiran

Kala Hiran first drew widespread attention last month when its makers unveiled its poster. The project is based against the backdrop of the blackbuck poaching case linked to Salman Khan and combines elements of courtroom drama, coupled with crime thriller. It also seeks to reflect the much-discussed rivalry between Khan and dreaded jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, whose community considers the blackbuck a sacred animal.

Why is Khan objecting to the film?

Shortly after the film was announced, Khan sent a legal notice demanding an immediate halt to its development and promotion. He alleged in the notice that the film appears to draw heavily from his blackbuck hunting case and could potentially damage his reputation, infringe upon his personality rights and affect the ongoing judicial proceedings in the case.

Notably, the blackbuck case is still pending before the Rajasthan High Court. The notice contends that producing and promoting a film based on an unresolved legal matter could interfere with the administration of justice and may influence the perception of the people.
