Ram Charan-headlined Telugu sports drama Peddi has surpassed the coveted Rs 100 crore net mark in India just three days after its theatrical release, to be crowned as one of the biggest Telugu box-office successes of the year. Despite a customary decline in collections after a blockbuster opening, the movie has continued to attract audiences across major markets, helping it maintain a stellar theatrical run.

Film’s India gross at Rs 124.42 cr

As per live estimates from industry trader Sacnilk, Peddi raked in Rs 8.41 crore in India by Saturday evening from 4,646 screenings. With collections continuing to be updated, the movie’s total domestic net earnings have breached Rs 100 crore, standing at Rs 104.81 crore.

Notably, it has clocked a gross collection of Rs 124.42 crore in India, reflecting its strong appeal among film enthusiasts. The film made the strides just three days after release, underlining the massive anticipation surrounding Ram Charan’s first collaboration with director Buchi Babu Sana.

Film gets a head start even before release

The film’s box office journey began on June 3 with paid previews, which alone raked in a whopping Rs 18.50 crore net from 847 shows. It also posted a remarkable occupancy rate of 72%, signalling sustained interest of audiences even before its official release. The same momentum persisted into opening day, when the film minted Rs 51 crore net across 12,412 shows while registering 45.5% occupancy. Although collections declined to Rs 26.90 crore on Friday, which is a common trend, the film drew steady footfalls, logging an occupancy rate of 32.8%.

Saturday’s overall occupancy rate dipped marginally to 29.7%, but reflected that audience interest remains largely intact.

Telugu version still leading charts

The original Telugu version remains the principal contributor to the movie’s earnings. On Day 3 alone, it generated Rs 7.48 crore net from 2,218 shows and posted a healthy occupancy rate of 47%.

Meanwhile, the Hindi version added Rs 0.77 crore from 2,060 shows, while the Tamil and Kannada language versions extended Rs 0.11 crore and Rs 0.05 crore respectively.

The Buchi Babu Sana directorial is set in rural Andhra Pradesh during the 1980s and depicts the story of a determined villager, who rallies his community through sport to protect their honour against a formidable rival. Alongside Ram Charan, the film features Janhvi Kapoor, Divyendu Sharma, Jagapathi Babu and Shivarajkumar in key roles.
