The controversy between Patna’s two leading educators, Roshan Anand and Faisal Khan, intensified on Tuesday after the Patna court rejected the former’s bail plea, who was recently arrested in connection with a firing case outside Khan’s coaching institute weeks ago. The court pronounced its verdict on Monday after reserving its orders, while hearing arguments from both the prosecution and the defence. With the bail application trashed, Anand will continue to remain in judicial custody and has not been granted relief.

The development has fuelled tensions among students and coaching centre operators, with Anand’s supporters announcing plans for a protest march in Bihar’s capital.
Students raise calls for ‘anger march’
Soon after the court’s verdict spread like fire, students backing Roshan Anand said they would take out an ‘anger march’ in Patna, demanding his release at the earliest. They claim the coaching director has falsely been implicated in the case and are expected to take to the streets in the coming days to voice their opposition to the arrest.
The case no longer remains a legal dispute, but has emerged as a subject of widespread discussion among students, educators and social media users across Bihar.

Anand was arrested on charges of allegedly orchestrating an attack on Khan Global Studies, owned by Faisal Khan aka Khan sir on the night of June 2, 2026. As per police, a group of 15-20 people allegedly vandalised the institute’s premises and hurled stones at the building, inflicting damage on the property.
The incident’s videos began making rounds on social media platforms. In a related development, police also detained two security guards attached to Khan sir’s coaching institute after allegations surfaced that they had fired shots during the incident.
The cops are skimming through the CCTV footage at present, analysing witness testimonies and other evidence to piece together the sequence of events and ascertain individual responsibilities.
Roshan Anand’s background
Roshan Anand was born in Dhamsena village in Bihar’s Saharsa district. He was raised in a farming family facing financial hurdles, and pursued education in government schools. He viewed academic success as a means to improve his circumstances.
He moved to Patna at the age of 15, aspiring to become an engineer, but later headed to Kota to prepare for competitive exams.

He cracked the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE), earning him admission to the Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra. However, financial difficulties were still in place for him, which impeded him from completing his engineering degree.
He then began teaching students in Bihar, and built a reputation over the years in the state’s coaching ecosystem, making his arrest a matter of public interest.
