Noted author and social thinker Shri Asok Kumar Haldar has been honoured with the prestigious Padma Shri, one of India's highest civilian awards, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to literature and education. A renowned author and former Indian Railways train manager (guard), he was born in the Lalgola region of Murshidabad district, West Bengal, and currently resides in the English Bazar area of Malda town.
