The ‘Cockroach Janta Party,’ which began as an Indian internet satire mocking unemployment and political culture has now crossed international borders, as several social media users in Pakistan rolled out their own political movements, named Cockroach Awami Party and the Cockroach Awami league. The movement has borrowed heavily from India’s branding, messaging and youth-driven political satire.

CJP crosses 19M followers on Instagram within days

India’s Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), exploded across social media platforms in May 2026 after cementing its status as the ‘voice of the lazy and unemployed.’ The movement drew millions of followers through memes, satirical manifestos and commentary focusing on unemployment, exam paper leaks and frustration among the Indian youth.

Within almost a week of its rollout, the CJP crossed 19 million followers on Instagram, emerging as one of the most talked-about digital phenomena in recent times. Apparently, the Pakistani social media users created localised versions aimed at addressing issues faced by Gen-Z audiences in the country.

Cockroach Awami Party's bio

One of the first pages to gain visibility in Pakistan was the Cockroach Awami Party (CAP), which openly admitted in its Instagram bio that it had copied the Indian concept. The bio read, “Yeah copied but who cares. Motto is same.”

Although the Pakistani version has gained far less traction compared to its Indian counterpart, the handle has managed to garner over 1700 followers so far. The administrators of the account claim the platform is not linked to any individual or political organisation and instead seeks to become the real voice of every Gen-Z in Pakistan.

Moreover, the page has adopted a green-and-white colour scheme resembling Pakistan’s national colours while maintaining a logo visually similar to India’s CJP.

Focus of CAM’s content

The content being uploaded by CAM revolves around memes, reposted reels and satirical political commentary targeting Pakistan’s mainstream political parties, including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Pakistan Muslim League (N) and Pakistan Peoples Party. The group has also announced that it shall unveil its own political slogan on May 28, 2026.
