MP wheat procurement: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav announced on Sunday that the wheat procurement at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) will begin as scheduled, on April 10, 2026. He reaffirmed his commitment to farmers, saying that the small-level ones will be prioritised. 


The announcement came during a high-level review meeting at Bhopal’s Samatva Bhavan, where the Chief Minister said that the government stands firmly with farmers, and will ensure a smooth and transparent wheat procurement process for them.

Procurement to advance in a phased manner


CM Dr Yadav said that the procurement process will unfold in a phased manner, beginning with small farmers, followed by medium and large-scale cultivators. He said all farmers registered on the procurement portal will be eligible to sell their produce, and slot booking will ensure a streamlined process for them. He underscored that the state government is sensitive to farmers’ concerns, and has taken the necessary steps to prevent any inconvenience during procurement. 



MP wheat procurement: Gunny bags in adequate numbers


CM Dr Yaav then informed that there is no shortage of gunny bags required for procurement. He further said that the state government remains in constant coordination with the Centre, the Jute Commissioner and supply agencies to maintain seamless availability. As per the CM, officials have been directed to ensure that the procurement centres are completely equipped and operational before the process kicks off. 



Weighing centres to undergo inspection

Further in his statements, CM Dr Yadav said he has instructed the authorities to conduct a thorough inspection of all weighing centres before April 10. He said he has also ordered the establishment of state-level and mandi-level control rooms to monitor procurement activities in real time. 


He stressed that agricultural mandis should be upgraded in a phased manner to meet global standards, ensuring better infrastructure for farmers. 



Dates for procurement, MSP details


According to senior officials, wheat procurement will begin on April 10, 2026 in Indore, Bhopal, Narmadapuram and Ujjain divisions, and in other regions from April 15. Slot booking process for farmers will begin from April 7. Notably, for the 2026-27 procurement season, as many as 1.9 million farmers have registered themselves across 3627 centres of the state. The MSP for wheat has been fixed at Rs 2625/ quintal, with an additional bonus of Rs 40/quintal from the state government’s side. Officials are estimating that around 7.8 million metric tonnes of wheat will be procured this season, ensuring a significant operation aimed at safeguarding farmers’ interests.
