Tateeree row: Haryana Police on Monday said they have removed as many as 857 online links related to rapper Badshah’s track ‘Tateeree,’ which kicked up a row and invited FIR against the artist over alleged objectionable content. As per police, the action was carried out in coordination with major social media platforms, and includes the removal of 154 videos from YouTube as well as 703 reels from Instagram.

FIR was registered against Badshah on March 6
The controversy stems from a complaint lodged in Haryana’s Panchkula on March 6, which turned into a First Information Report (FIR). The complaint alleged that the music video contained derogatory visuals and lyrics, objectifying minor girls and women. Haryana’s Director General of Police (DGP) Ajay Singhal said that any material undermining the dignity of minor girls and women would not be tolerated. He added that surveillance has been intensified across digital platforms to ensure compliance with legal directives and to reinforce accountability. On March 19, Haryana police informed the Punjab and Haryana High Court that singer-rapper Badshah had joined the investigation. After the song stirred a controversy and Haryana State Commission for Women (SCW) issued summons to Badshah, he later issued a public apology via social media. In his video message, he expressed regret if the song had hurt sentiments of the people and added that the song had been taken down from all digital platforms. He also challenged the Haryana SCW orders, which had directed authorities to register an FIR and carry out his arrest. However, the state counsel clarified before the court that no coercive action would be taken on the basis of that specific directive.
