The probe into the firing incident outside popular educator Khan sir’s coaching institute in Bihar’s Patna has taken an unpredictable turn on Friday, as the police named him in the First Information Report (FIR). The development emerged after several new videos related to the incident surfaced during the ongoing probe.

According to police, Faisal Khan, who is fondly known on social media as Khan sir and is the founder of Khan Global Studies, has been added to the FIR registered at Kadamkuan Police station. The charges invoked in the FIR pertain to possession of illegal arms and allegedly providing misleading information to law enforcement authorities.

Police officials aware of the development said that the probe is underway into the incident and that further details are likely to be shared after a thorough inspection of all available evidence.

Allegations of misleading police emerge

Town DSP-1 Rajesh Ranjan told the media that inaccurate information regarding the firing incident had allegedly been provided to the police. On the basis of preliminary findings, the police have registered a case under relevant legal provisions.

Notably, police had earlier arrested two security guards linked to the coaching institute to judicial custody. Investigating police personnel also claim that attempts were made to conceal bullet pellets following the firing incident.

Incident unfolded on June 2

The controversy stems from an alleged attack on Khan Global Studies institute on the night of June 2, 2026. Khan Sir had earlier claimed that multiple rounds of firing had been carried out during the incident.

After the videos were released from the coaching centre, the cops nabbed the two security guards spotted in the footage, who were seen firing weapons. The investigators also questioned Khan sir, who said the shots were fired in self-defence.

Fresh charges and Khan sir’s response

After new footage began making rounds online, showing firing from within the coaching premises, the police extended their action and registered a case against Khan sir under sections pertaining to attempted murder and the Arms Act. However, Khan sir said he was not completely aware of the FIR details but would cooperate with the police. He maintained that security guards had acted in self-defence and that the matter would also be reviewed by the security agency concerned.

Khan Sir’s classroom video also draws attention

A separate video has also surfaced, in which Khan sir is seen addressing students, discussing the attack and questioning why certain people have not been arrested yet. He further argued that the issue is being diverted from its original focus.

Towards the end, he claimed that if Khan Global Studies were forced to shut down, coaching fees in the city could rise substantially. Reiterating his version of the events, Khan sir told students that firing had indeed taken place on the day of the incident and defended the actions of the security guards involved.
