IPL 2026 DC vs RCB: Capitals falter in the beginning

DC’s pursuit of 176 runs faltered in the beginning, as they slumped to 18/3 inside three overs owing to a fiery spell from Bhuvneshvar Kumar (3/26). However, Rahul steadied the innings with a technically sound 57 off 34 deliveries, anchoring the recovery with elegant strokeplay.

He stitched a 69-run partnership with Stubbs for the fourth wicket. Stubbs, who posted a spectacular 60* off 47 balls, then stitched a crucial stand with DC skipper Axar Patel (24, retired hurt) to keep the chase on track.

Stubbs and Miller combined effectively, as their side needed 45 runs off the last 25 balls, guiding Delhi to 179/4 with one ball to spare and snapping a two-match losing streak.

RCB reels despite Salt’s fifty

Earlier, RCB registered 175/8 after being sent to bat, a total that appeared below par on a surface that offered grip for bowlers. Phil Salt emerged as RCB’s top scorer with a composed 63, while Virat Kohli contributed 19 runs in a 52-run opening stand. Salt’s aggressive innings, including a brisk fifty, propelled RCB to 99/2 at the halfway mark. However, Axar’s disciplined pace attack (2/18), coupled with Kuldeep Yadav’s (2/32) choked the scoring in the middle overs.

RCB captain Rajat Patidar and Tim David threatened briefly, but both fell at crucial junctures, halting the team’s momentum. Despite a solid platform, RCB managed to amass only 76 runs in the final 10 overs, registering their first sub-200 total of the season in a completed innings.

The match marked redemption for Miller after his recent failure to close out a game against Gujarat Titans. The experienced finisher held his nerve in this clash, ensuring there were no last-over jitters.
