The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) on Thursday declared the results for the ICSE (Class 10) and ISC (Class 12) exam 2026, where a remarkable pass percentage of above 99% was recorded in both the grades. The results were announced at 11 am, and underscore consistent academic performance across the country, with girls topping the charts again.

Notably, a pass rate of 99.18% was posted by the ICSE students, while the ISC students registered a pass percentage of 99.13%. The figures, as per CISCE officials, reflect a steady trend of high success rates witnessed in recent years.

Girls outshine boys in both the grades

It is noteworthy that the female students maintained their academic edge in both the grades. The ICSE girls secured an impressive pass rate of 99.46%, surpassing boys who stood at 98.93%. Meanwhile, a similar pattern was witnessed in the ISC results, where girls logged a pass percentage of 99.48%, compared to 98.81% among boys.

Southern, Western regions dominate

According to the statistics released by CISCE, the students from the Southern and Western parts of the country exhibited a strong performance. In the ISC exams, the Southern region topped the chart with a pass rate of 99.87%, followed by Western region at 99.55%.

In ICSE, the Western region emerged as the best-performing zone with a pass rate of 99.85%, narrowly ahead of the Southern region, whose figures stood at 99.81%.

Exams were conducted across 1,553 schools

The Class 12 exams were conducted across 1,553 schools of the country, and 1,03,316 students took them. Of these, 54,118 were male candidates and 49,198 were females. On the other hand, the Class 10 exams saw participation from 2,957 schools, with 2,58,721 students appearing. Boys accounted for 1,37,503 of the exam takers, while 1,21,218 were girls.

These students can take improvement exams

The board has also announced that such students, who are dissatisfied with their marks, can apply for rechecking through the CISCE service portal between May 1 and May 4, 2026. Additionally, the ones who aim to improve their scores may register for the improvement examinations from May 8 to May 14, 2026. The improvement exams will kick off on June 15, and its results will likely be released in the final week of July. Under the revised post-2024 assessment framework, the students are permitted to reappear in up to two subjects, replacing the earlier compartment system with a more flexible model.
