Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra alleged on Thursday she was harassed onboard an IndiGo flight to Delhi, claiming that a group of men shouted slogans at her, besides filming her inside the aircraft.

She said the incident took place on flight 6E 719 from Kolkata to New Delhi, when she was travelling to attend a meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence.

Moitra narrates ordeal on ‘X’

Taking to her official ‘X’ handle, Moitra said a group of four to six men allegedly behaved in an intimidating manner. She alleged the men initially sat towards the rear of the aircraft while boarding, but began shouting slogans upon Delhi touchdown, before the aircraft’s doors were opened.

She further said the group hailed slogans of ‘Jai Shree Ram’ and ‘TMC Chor,’ coupled with remarks against outgoing West Bengal Chief Minister (CM) Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee. Moitra further claimed that the persons involved in the act also recorded videos during the episode, which she termed a ‘breach of her safety and dignity.’

“This is harassment, not citizen anger”

The post further stated that the incident was unacceptable, with the Krishnanagar MP opining that such behaviour could not be dismissed as spontaneous public reaction. She wrote, “This is not citizen anger. This is harassment and violates my safety in an aircraft,” urging action against the ones involved in the incident.

Furthermore, she appealed to the IndiGo authorities to review the crew report, identify the accused and place them on a no-fly list.

Moitra tags Union Aviation Minister too

In the post, Moitra tagged Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu too, seeking his intervention and accountability in the incident. As of now, neither IndiGo nor the Ministry of Civil Aviation has responded to the allegations.

The controversy has unfolded against the backdrop of heightened political tensions in West Bengal, following the Assembly Polls 2026, in which the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) sealed a decisive victory, putting an end to the TMC’s 15-year-long rule.
