Fresh developments have emerged on Wednesday in the high-profile religious conversion case at the Nashik unit of the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) after Nashik police filed a detailed 1500-page chargesheet naming Nida Khan as the key accused. The extensive document, submitted before a court on May 22, 2026, mentions serious allegations linked to forced religious conversion, emotional coercion and inflicting harm on religious sentiments.

Sources familiar with the probe said the chargesheet claims that Nida Khan played a direct role in influencing and mounting pressure on a woman to undergo religious conversion. The case, which already drew numerous eyeballs, is now expected to take a crucial turn in the coming days.

Chargesheet details alleged religious training

The investigating police personnel have alleged that Khan remained in constant touch with one of the woman complainants and repeatedly encouraged her to adopt Islamic practices. Police sources claim she regularly communicated with the victim and attempted to persuade her for a prolonged period.

As per the chargesheet, the woman was taken to Nida Khan’s house in Nashik several times, where she was reportedly taught how to wear a burqa. Furthermore, it claimed that the victim was also instructed to recite the Kalma and offer Namaz.

Officials said that the alleged process continued for several months as the cops gathered statements and evidence during the probe. So far, the police have identified two persons in connection with alleged religious conversion activities; a woman and a man.

SIT delves deeper into case

The case is currently under judicial consideration, while the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed to probe the case is persevering in efforts to widen the investigation. Authorities said they are examining whether a broader network may have been involved in the alleged activities.

Police officials said that multiple FIRs have already been registered in the case, where sections pertaining to molestation, sexual harassment, mental harassment and hurting religious sentiments involving women employees attached to the company have been invoked.

They added that six persons have been arrested so far in the case.

Nida Khan moves court again for relief

One of the key accused, Nida Khan, is currently incarcerated in central jail. Earlier, a lower court had junked her anticipatory bail plea, following which she moved the Nashik Road Sessions Court seeking relief.

The court is likely to hear her bail application on May 30, 2026. Meanwhile, the SIT is also probing allegations that Nida Khan received assistance while she was on the run from the law. In connection with that angle, AIMIM corporator Mateen Patel was questioned for nearly 10 hours by police on May 25.
