MP's Shamshabad renamed: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav announced on Saturday that the Shamshabad town of Vidisha will be renamed ‘Suryanagar,’ after a long-standing demand from the residents and the local representatives. CM Dr Yadav made the announcement during the ‘Krishi Hitgrahi Sammelan’ held in Shamshabad, where he also unleashed a series of development projects with an outlay of Rs 163.62 crore.

Proposal for renaming Shamshabad to be sent soon


On the occasion, CM Dr Yadav said that the decision to rename the town was taken after requests were received from local Member of Parliament (MP) Lata Wankhede and Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Surya Prakash Meena. After he made the announcement, applause from the attendees reverberated through the event’s venue. He added that a proposal will be sent through the Zila Panchayat in order to mark the completion of the administrative process for the name change.



CM holds road show in Shamshabad


Prior to the public meeting, CM Der Yadav staged a roadshow in Shamshabad with MLA Surya Prakash Meena alongside him. Residents of the town showered petals on the Chief Minister’s convoy, as he passed through the town. 



5 constituencies in Vidisha get Rs 163 crore push


At the event, CM Dr Yadav laid foundation stones and inaugurated as many as 97 development projects across five assembly constituencies of the Vidisha district. He launched 56 projects worth Rs 104.30 crore and 41 projects valued at Rs 59.32 crore.

State’s first district-level fingerprint lab becomes operational


CM Dr Yadav then inaugurated the state’s first district-level fingerprint laboratory, aimed at stepping up forensic and investigative capabilities in the region.



CM announces Rs 3 crore for Nagar Parishad

Towards the end, CM Dr Yadav also announced a provision of Rs 3 crore for the Nagar Parishad to aid the local development works. Additionally, he announces plans for the setting up of a new electricity sub-station and irrigation initiatives linked to the Sanjay Sagar Dam and Sagad Dam. According to officials, the initiative will ensure water availability for farmers. The Chief Minister said that the projects would prove to be a boost for infrastructure, agriculture and rural development, while improving public services across Vidisha.
