MP Kisaan Sammelan: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav on Saturday paid a visit to the Barhi town in Katni district. He offered prayers at the revered Shri Vijaynath Dham located in the town, performed rituals before Lord Shiva and prayed for the happiness, prosperity and good health of the people of the state.
Event focuses on ramping up agrarian sector
CM Dr Yadav, during his visit, presided over a major farmers’ conference organised in Katni as part of the state government’s initiative to observe 2026 as Kisaan Kalyan Varsh. The event focused on ramping up the agrarian sector and improving farmers’ livelihoods across the state.
The Chief Minister inaugurated and laid foundation stones for numerous development projects valued at Rs 243 crore at the conference. He also facilitated the distribution of financial assistance to farmers through a single-click transfer under the Kisaan Samman Nidhi scheme. Addressing the attendees of the event, CM Dr Yadav said that the state government is committed to making farmers economically stronger and ensuring prosperity in rural areas.

Agriculture departments showcase exhibition
After the address, CM Dr Yadav also took stock of an exhibition set up by the agriculture and allied departments showcasing modern farming techniques, government schemes and agricultural innovations. The officials who attended the event said that the exhibition aims to apprise farmers of various welfare initiatives and technologies that could enhance agriculture productivity.
Benefits distributed under these schemes too
During the programme, CM Dr Yadav distributed benefits to seven beneficiaries under multiple Central and state government-led schemes, including the Pradhan Mantri Krishak Mitra Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana, Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Kamdhenu Yojana, Super Seeder initiative, Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana, Self-Help Group Bank scheme and the Responsible Tourism Homestay initiative. The CM also made key announcements aimed at revving up development in the Barhi region during the ‘Krishi Mahotsav’ organised alongside the farmers’ conference.
