As a major push to rural infrastructure in Madhya Pradesh, state’s Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav on Sunday launched the fourth phase of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) and the PM Janman Yojana in Sehore’s Bhairunda. The goal of the initiative is to enhance connectivity across the rural regions of the state.

Under the fourth phase of PMGSY, as many as 963 roads spanning 2117 kms will be laid at a cost of more than Rs 1763 crore. It is expected to connect 987 habitations, resulting in improved access to essential services and boosting socio-economic activities in rural areas. 

Sehore to get 81 new roads

The state government emphasised that the enhanced road network would facilitate smoother transportation, ramp up access to education and healthcare, and stimulate trade in remote areas of Madhya Pradesh. Officials said that in Sehore, 81 roads covering 209 kms will be built at an estimated cost of Rs 165 crore, providing benefit to 84 habitations.

CM Dr Yadav, in his address at the event, highlighted the transformative impact of infrastructure development, informing that the initiative would open new avenues of growth and ease mobility challenges faced by rural residents.

Union Minister and Madhya Pradesh’s ex-CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan was also in attendance at the event. On the occasion, a short film was also screened, which showcased the achievements of PMGSY, and awards were presented across various categories under the scheme. 

The Chief Minister credited Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi for ushering in a new era of development, maintaining that visible transformations were made across the country. He also announced that all demands raised for development in the region would be fulfilled. 

During the event, Minister Chouhan handed over an approval letter valued at Rs 2,055 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana to the MP government. He also commended CM Dr Yadav’s leadership, saying that Madhya Pradesh is witnessing rapid development and has emerged as a top performer in terms of road construction.
