A 17-year-old boy, a medical aspirant, allegedly died by suicide on Tuesday after learning that the NEET UG 2026 exam had been cancelled by the exam conducting agency NTA, the police reported on Thursday. Here’s what the student wrote in his suicide note

Police sources revealed that the teenager wrote he did not wish to appear for competitive exams again, underscoring the immense pressure he had been reeling under.

NEET UG cancellation amid leak probe
The NTA on Tuesday announced that the NEET UG 2026 exam, which had been conducted nationwide on May 3, 2026, was cancelled, following serious allegations of a question paper leak. Notably, now the probe is being handled by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which has unearthed a suspected network involved in circulating leaked exam papers across multiple states.
Officials said they have invoked cases pertaining to criminal conspiracy and cheating against the accused, signalling a large-scale breach in the integrity of India’s one of most competitive medical entrance exams.
Protests erupted after NEET UG 2026 leak
The network, according to CBI officials, is believed to have extended across several states, such as Haryana, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan.
