Malayalam actor and ‘Drishyam’ fame Ansiba Hassan has levelled allegations against fellow actor Tiny Tom and several members of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA), accusing them of assassinating her character and subjecting her to communal abuse, which ultimately prompted her to resign from the organisation.

Her revelation has sent ripples through Mollywood (Malayalam film industry), and the actress has openly questioned whether she was targeted because of her Muslim identity.

Tiny Tom allegedly branded Hassan a Jihadi

In conversation with several television channels on Saturday, Hassan claimed that she was informed by an AMMA member that Tiny Tom had referred to her as a ‘Jihadi’ and even accused her of attempting religious conversion. Moreover, she said Tom allegedly circulated rumours surrounding her personal life.

The actress said that the allegations and hostile environment within the organisation triggered immense emotional distress within her. She revealed that she had stepped down as the organisation’s joint secretary on February 21, citing personal reasons and mounting work pressure. However, she claimed that she had narrated her actual ordeal personally to the organisation’s secretary, which pushed her to the brink.

Furthermore, she alleged that a female member of AMMA’s executive committee had filed a false police complaint against her, and expressed dismay over alleged lack of support from the organisation’s leadership during the controversy.

She asserted, “I have been going through severe mental stress. There has been a limit-crossing character assassination campaign against me.” Despite the gravity of the accusations, she said she did not want to opt for legal recourse.

Tiny Tom denies claims

Meanwhile, Tiny Tom has dismissed the allegations, maintaining that they were entirely based on hearsay. While addressing reporters, he said, “Someone else has said that I made such remarks against her. That’s what she said. I am a person who works sincerely and speaks openly.” He further said that the AMMA’s executive committee would take an appropriate decision in light of the issue.

Actor Priyanka publicly backed Tom, arguing that internal disputes should have been resolved within the organisation rather than through the media. She said in Kochi, “Whatever issues Hassan had should have been discussed within AMMA. There are elected representatives in the organisation to resolve such matters.”
