A man from Bihar’s Hajipur on Thursday accused his wife of abandoning him and their 10-year-old son soon after landing a government teaching job through the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC). The incident has triggered a debate on social media over family relationships and changing priorities after employment.

The complainant named Aman Kumar alleged that he made numerous personal and financial sacrifices to fund his wife, Gunjan Kumari’s education and career ambitions, only to face desertion later.

Aman said that he got hitched to Gunjan in 2013, and Gunjan was merely a Class 12 pass then. He claimed that she aspired to become a teacher, and despite severe financial struggles, he encouraged her to continue her studies.

Aman went on to narrate his ordeal, saying that he worked as a labourer to bear household expenses, while concurrently supporting Gunjan’s academic journey. He claimed that in 2022, he allegedly sold his one-and-a-half kattha of ancestral land to fund her higher education and preparation for competitive exams.

Gunjan later completed her graduation and B.Ed degree, to take the BPSC Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE-02). Following this, she was appointed as a teacher for Classes 6 to 8 and was posted as a school in Bihar’s Bidupur block after receiving training in Supaul district’s Triveniganj.

However, Aman alleged that things began to take a heartbreaking turn during her training period. He claimed Gunjan grew close to Prem Prakash Jaywal, describing him as a college friend who had also secured a government teaching position. According to Aman, the two used to interact with each other frequently and remained in constant contact during the training programme.

Gunjan sends son back to Aman citing group trip

The dispute between Aman and Gunjan deepened earlier this year when Aman claimed that she sent their son Aarush Arya back to him in January, citing a group trip to Darjeeling with fellow teachers.

Aman later found no such group trip had taken place, intensifying his suspicions regarding her relationship with Prem Prakash. He added to the allegations, saying that Gunjan has been living separately for a year and has also lodged false cases against him. He went on to say that on May 23, when he went to Gunjan’s rented accommodation in Hajipur’s Lichchavi Nagar area, he discovered her in an objectionable situation with Prem Prakash.

He then contacted the Dial-112 police services.

Aarush’s statement adds emotional twist

The couple’s son, aged 10, has also expressed reluctance to stay with his mother. According to Aman, his son, Aarush alleged that he was being forced to address another man as ‘uncle,’ something he found emotionally distressing.

As of now, the police have not issued any statements regarding the allegations made by Aman.
