Lucknow Varsity professor held after female student accuses him of harassment, offers her leaked papers for exams

As the NEET UG 2026 paper leak continues to spark infuriation among the country’s students and their parents alike, another shocking case drawing parallels with the same, coupled with sexual harassment, has rocked Lucknow University.

An assistant professor appointed at the university allegedly mounted pressure on a female student to meet him on the pretext of giving her leaked question papers ahead of the university exams, while trying to make inappropriate sexual advances towards her. After the woman reported the incident to the university administration, the accused was arrested and outrage erupted on the campus premises.

Viral audio clip triggers massive row

As per the complaint submitted by the complainant, a student of BSc, assistant professor Paramjit Singh repeatedly contacted her and attempted to lure her with promises of providing leaked exam papers. In one of the audio recordings, which has gone viral, the professor can be heard telling the student that he had ‘retrieved two papers’ for her and insisting that she meet him in person before taking the exam.

The student, however, replied by saying that she had already completed her studies and did not require access to any leaked material. The conversation took an uncomfortable turn for the woman, when Singh pressed her repeatedly to visit him within a week.

After the call ended, the woman can be heard claiming that Singh was summoning her so that she could be ‘molested again.’ Her statements intensified the seriousness of the allegations. Later, the woman submitted the audio clip to the university administration as evidence.

Varsity lodges police complaint, accused arrested

Following the complaint, the university’s Controller of Examinations approached the police and lodged a complaint, after which the authorities plunged into action. They laid hands on the professor for interrogation. However, Singh has denied all the allegations, claiming that he is falsely being implicated due to ‘internal politics’ within the university.

Meanwhile, the university administration has also formed a special inquiry committee to probe the incident at length. Vice Chancellor JP Saini has directed the Internal Complaints Committee to submit its report within 24 hours.

Students protest on campus

The incident drew flak from members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), who staged demonstrations on the campus premises demanding strict action against the accused.
