Police protection has been deployed outside the house of Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar on Sunday, amid escalating online attention surrounding the controversial satirical movement.

Senior officials said on Sunday that round-the-clock police presence has been ensured at the house located in the MIDC Waluj area, where Dipke’s parents are residing currently, while he pursues his studies in the United States’ Boston. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Pankaj Atulkar said that police deployment was purely precautionary in nature. 

“Security beefed up to ensure there is no crowding”: DCP

The DCP said that police protection has been beefed up outside Dipke’s house to ensure there is no crowding, since the CJP issue is trending on social media right now. The officer further said that no complaint had been registered at any police station under his jurisdiction in connection with the CJP issue. 

The development has emerged as the CJP continues to helm discussions across social media platforms and political circles. 

Dipke alleges crackdown on CJP’s online campaigns

Meanwhile, Dipke has alleged that the digital movement has faced a sweeping crackdown, claiming that all official social media handles belonging to the CJP, as well as its website, were either removed or compromised. He claimed that at present, the outfit has no access to its official online platforms. 

On Friday, Dipke alleged that he was even threatened with life for conducting the CJP campaign and spearheading an online petition, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the NEET UG 2026 paper leak row. 

Adding to this, he said, “I even received a video in which a man is saying that they have reached outside my home,” adding that his family should not have to face consequences for his personal decisions. 

Satirical movement began after CJI’s remarks

The CJP began as an online satire initiative after Chief Justice of India (CJI), Surya Kant was allegedly misquoted in remarks involving the words ‘parasites’ and ‘cockroaches,’ directed at the Indian youth. Later, the CJI clarified that his comments targeted such individuals who enter the legal profession with bogus degrees and attack the system.
