“Don’t have the courage to tell the truth”: Jana Nayagan director’s cryptic remark fuels speculation over film’s delay
Vijay’s Kollywood exit project, ‘Jana Nayagan,’ has been standing as the subject of intense discussion for a long time. Speculation regarding its release went up a notch on Sunday after the film’s director, H Vinoth, made a cryptic statement which has left fans and industry observers intrigued.
Notably, the film was slated for a theatrical release in January 2026, but has remained unreleased till now, with no official date in sight. The persistent uncertainty has heightened anticipation among Vijay’s supporters, particularly after he took helm as the Chief Minister (CM) of Tamil Nadu.
Director breaks silence, says this
After being tight-lipped for several months, the film’s director, H Vinoth, addressed the issue during a promotional event for filmmaker Pandiraj’s upcoming project Parimala & Co. Responding to questions about the reasons behind Jana Nayagan’s delay, Vinoth offered a brief yet striking response that grabbed attention immediately. He said, “That is not up to me. I don’t even have the courage to tell you the truth. Even if I had the courage, you wouldn’t have the courage to share it.”
Both the event’s host and the audience were left speechless after Vinoth’s remarks. While he refrained from sharing further details, his comments have sparked a fresh wave of speculation on social media, and many netizens are attempting to decipher the underlying reasons behind the movie’s prolonged postponement.
CBFC clearance still pending
Notably, the film’s producers had confirmed earlier that the project was awaiting certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), a key requirement before any theatrical release can be finalised.
Until now, the makers have not announced any new release schedule, nor have they provided additional details linked to the certification process. The lack of clarity has only intensified the curiosity surrounding the project.
In recent weeks, Vijay’s fans found reason for optimism when online ticketing platforms, including BookMyShow, appeared to list the film for a June release. However, the expectations have largely faded due to no official confirmation from the production team.
The attention has now shifted towards Vijay’s birthday falling on June 22, which many supporters view as a potential date for a major announcement.
