CJP expresses gratitude towards Delhi Police for successful protest; cops say no FIR registered

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has publicly expressed gratitude towards Delhi Police, thanking it for its cooperation during the high-profile protest held in the national capital on Saturday. Meanwhile, the police dismissed claims of any FIR against the demonstrators during the protest.

Notably, the protest was centred on recurring controversies in competitive exams, and gained attention online, as well as on the field. Organisers claimed the agitation marked the beginning of a wider movement demanding accountability from the authorities.

CJP lauds police on ‘X’

CJP spokesperson and journalist Saurav Das took to his official ‘X’ handle, lauding the Delhi Police in ensuring that the demonstration remained peaceful. According to Das, the cops extended complete cooperation to organisers and acted promptly against people who allegedly attempted to disrupt the sit-ins. His post read, “We would again like to thank Delhi Police for extending all possible cooperation for this democratic protest. They quickly detained anti-social elements and ensured things proceeded smoothly.”

CJP maintained that its objective was to conduct a peaceful and orderly demonstration while highlighting public concerns over issues affecting students and job-seekers.

Rage over exam irregularities fuels protest

As per CJP, the agitation stems from mounting frustration among the general public over repeated controversies linked to competitive examinations and what it termed a lack of accountability from the government.

The group claimed that nearly eight lakh people have signed the petition seeking the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. However, the organisers alleged that their demands have not drawn any meaningful response from the government.

The organiser issued a statement, which read, “This protest is a result of growing frustration among the public and a lack of outlets to register it.”

It further warned that the movement could expand beyond Delhi if authorities fail to address its concerns. The group said if no action is taken within seven days, protests may be organised across multiple parts of India.

Security beefed up across Delhi

The protest prompted a large-scale security deployment throughout Delhi. More than 1,000 cops, assisted by approximately 40 companies of paramilitary forces, were stationed at Jantar Mantar and other sensitive locations.

Security was also beefed up at Indira Gandhi International Airport, major railway stations, interstate bus terminals and Delhi’s border entry points. Additional precautions were also taken around the residence of Minister Pradhan.

The CJP originally surfaced as an online campaign following remarks made by the Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant during a court hearing last month. Since then, the CJP has snowballed into a major digital movement, drawing millions of followers and increasingly expanding its presence beyond social media platforms.
