The probe into the death of former actor-model Twisha Sharma has entered into a crucial phase on Saturday, as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is buckling up to recreate the circumstances surrounding her alleged suicide at her marital house in Bhopal. As part of the same, the CBI sleuths will use an 80-kg dummy to reconstruct the sequence of events described by the accused and cross-check their claims.

Husband, mother-in-law to be taken back to home for exercise

As per reports, the CBI is planning to take Twisha’s husband, Samarth Singh, and her mother-in-law, Giribala Singh, back to their house in Bhopal’s Katara Hills, where the newly-wed woman was found hanging on the night of May 12, 2026. 

During questioning, Samarth reportedly told the CBI that he was the one who brought Twisha down from the noose, while his mother Giribala allegedly untied the knot around Twisha’s neck. The CBI aims to verify this account, and will thus conduct a detailed reconstruction of the incident at the scene. 

The CBI officials are expected to hang an 80-kg dummy in a manner similar to how Twisha hanged herself. Samarth will then be asked to demonstrate how he brought the body down from the noose, while Giribala will be directed to show how she untied the knot. The exercise is aimed at assessing the plausibility of their statements and identifying any inconsistencies. 

Strength of the belt to be examined

Moreover, the CBI will also examine the belt used by Twisha for hanging herself. Officials intend to test its strength and determine the amount of weight it could withstand. Sources said the findings may play a key role in establishing the circumstances surrounding Twisha’s death. 

Investigators said that forensic observations from the reconstruction could help corroborate or challenge the statements made by the accused mother-son duo during interrogation.

Custody of both accused extended till June 2

A court, meanwhile, has remanded both accused to CBI custody till June 2, 2026. The investigators from the central agency are expected to continue questioning them individually and may also conduct a face-to-face interrogation to compare their accounts.

Earlier, the CBI had spent several hours at the Katara Hills residence in Bhopal, documenting the location through photographs and videography while collecting evidence. The upcoming reconstruction is being viewed as a key step in the agency’s efforts to establish the facts behind the case.
