A disturbing case has emerged from Maharashtra’s Nagpur, where a 24-year-old woman, wife of an Indian Air Force (IAF) official, has accused his former classmate and several of his aides for allegedly raping her, blackmailing her by capturing obscene visuals of her, coercing her into changing her religion and the use of purported occult practices, the police said.

According to police, two accused have been arrested in connection with the case, while one of their aides, a cleric, is on the run.

Key accused identified as Ayaz Madare

As per police, the survivor woman has accused her former classmate identified as Ayaaz Madare, along with his aides, of subjecting her to months of sexual exploitation, intimidation and sexual abuse. Upon receipt of the information, the police laid hands on Madare and his friend, Ameen Shaikh. Meanwhile, the cleric absconding in the case is being hunted for, who belongs to Madhya Pradesh and has also been named in the complaint filed by the woman. 

Survivor alleges drink was spiked, explicit material used for blackmail

The woman detailed her ordeal in the First Information Report (FIR), saying that her ordeal began on February 8, 2025, when she met Madare at a hotel in Nagpur. 

She claimed her drink had allegedly been spiked with an intoxicant, owing to which she lost consciousness. Upon regaining consciousness, she found that Madare and his aides had allegedly captured her obscene videos and photographs without her consent. 

Subsequently, the accused threatened to circulate the explicit content on social media and to send it to her husband unless she complied with his demands, the complaint stated.

Furthermore, the woman alleged that she was repeatedly assaulted sexually on numerous occasions and was extorted for as much as Rs 4 lakh during the period. 

Video of ordeal emerges online

The investigating police personnel are examining a video which went viral recently. In the video, the woman is seen crying and pleading to be released while the accused allegedly tames her and recites Islamic verses. She can be heard saying, “Chhodo Mujhe (Let me go),” as she struggles to free herself. 

The woman said in her complaint that she was later informed she had been converted forcibly and that attempts were made to sexually assault her thereafter. Adding to this, she said the accused regularly forced her to consume a liquid poured in a plastic bottle, after which he would perform Islamic rituals, mutter phrases in Urdu and claim to be using hypnosis or black magic before allegedly violating her.

The woman’s ordeal did not stop here. She further mentioned in the complaint that on May 31, she was forcibly taken to Kalmeshwar, where a cleric named Hazrat Maulana, hailing from MP’s Chhindwara district, conducted religious rituals against her wishes. 

As per the FIR, she was allegedly compelled to say ‘Qubool Hai’ (I accept), after which she was declared converted to Islam and was informed that a Nikah (Marriage rituals in Islam) had been performed between her and the key accused.

She then alleged that she was forced to consume meat and recite Urdu verses before being taken to a hotel, where she was allegedly violated again. 

Multi-state probe underway

Nagpur police have arrested and booked Madare and his aide under offences pertaining to rape, repeated sexual assault, extortion, criminal intimidation, forced religious conversion and provisions under Maharashtra’s anti-black magic law.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Suresh Reddy said electronic devices have been seized during the probe, which are being subjected to forensic examination, and will play a key role in establishing the facts of the case.

Meanwhile, a police team has been dispatched to MP to trace and apprehend the absconding cleric.
