MP CM Dr Yadav unveils Rs 552 crore boost for Singrauli, transfers welfare funds to women and pension beneficiaries
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav on Saturday announced development projects worth Rs 552 crore for the Singrauli district, describing the region as the “power house” of the state owing to its contribution to the energy sector.
During his visit to Singrauli, the Chief Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for multiple infrastructure and public welfare projects. He also transferred financial assistance under several welfare schemes directly into the bank accounts of beneficiaries through a single-click digital transfer system.
Funds transferred to 2.4 million women of MP
Under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, nearly Rs 115 crore was transferred to around 2.4 million women across the state as subsidy support for gas cylinder refills covering a period of three months. In addition, over Rs 202.28 crore was disbursed to more than 3.371 million beneficiaries under various social security pension schemes.
The Chief Minister also interacted with female students during the programme and discussed issues related to education and development.
‘India gaining global recognition under PM Modi’
Addressing the gathering, CM Dr Yadav said India was carving out a distinct identity on the global stage under the leadership of Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi. He stated that Madhya Pradesh was moving forward alongside the Centre in its development journey.
He added the state government was committed to women’s welfare and highlighted that beneficiaries under the Ladli Behna scheme were receiving Rs 1,500 every month. According to him, self-help groups had played a major role in improving the economic condition of women in the state. Tricycles were also distributed among differently-abled beneficiaries during the event.
Singrauli emerging beyond coal economy
Calling Singrauli the energy capital of Madhya Pradesh, the state’s top political leader said the district held significant economic importance for the state. He noted that the district, traditionally known for coal production, was now also drawing attention due to reports of gold reserves being found in the area.
He added that the state government remained committed to the district’s overall growth and had strengthened connectivity through rail, road and air infrastructure projects. Referring to academic achievements, he said five students from Singrauli secured places in the merit list of this year’s MP Board examinations.
The Chief Minister also urged people to avoid unnecessary expenditure and support collective marriage ceremonies, while stressing the importance of simplicity and financial discipline during periods of global economic uncertainty.
