Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav on Saturday said that the state police force is completely prepared and equipped to deal with emerging security threats and challenges. His remarks came at the state-level IG conference at the Madhya Pradesh Police Headquarters (PHQ) in Bhopal. 

During this, he emphasised that maintaining the trust of the general public remains the first and foremost responsibility of the police.

Upon his arrival at the venue, CM Dr Yadav was accorded the guard of honour. During his address, he urged senior police officials to ensure that victims are treated courteously and prompt action be taken to shield their interests. He underscored that citizen-centric policing should remain the topmost priority of the state police.

Focus laid on Simhastha 2028, safety of commoners

Referring to Simhastha 2028, one of the largest religious gatherings in the country, CM Dr Yadav said the event would attract millions of devotees and present an opportunity for Madhya Pradesh Police to showcase exemplary arrangements before the nation and the world.

He called for heightened sensitivity, vigilance, efficiency and a spirit of service during preparations for the mega event. Furthermore, he directed officials to prioritise cybercrime prevention and public awareness campaigns. Additionally, he underlined the need to reduce road accidents, curb human trafficking, strengthen the safety framework for women and children, and ensure strict compliance with court directives regarding the use of loudspeakers at religious places.

CM highlights achievements bagged by police

Addressing the media after the conference, CM Dr Yadav expressed satisfaction with the performance of the Home Department and the police force. He said the state police had achieved several significant milestones during the tenure of the present government.

Highlighting the campaign against Naxalism, he noted that districts of MP such as Mandla, Balaghat and Dindori had long suffered due to extremist activities that hindered development and claimed numerous lives. He credited the police for effectively eliminating the Naxal threat in the state, describing it as a landmark achievement carried out in line with the vision of Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi and the guidance of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Recruitment drive and crackdown on terror modules

The state’s top political leader said police personnel continue to face evolving challenges, particularly cybercrime. To strengthen the force, the government has recruited sub-inspectors and launched an ongoing drive to fill around 22,000 vacancies.

Thereafter, he also praised the police for apprehending an alleged associate of terrorists and exposing a wider network. He said investigators had seized literature promoting extremist ideology and successfully uncovered the broader conspiracy. “Our police are capable of identifying and capturing such hidden elements,” he said, reaffirming the government's commitment to ensuring robust law and order across Madhya Pradesh.
