The Madhya Pradesh government has put in place extensive preparations for the observance of International Yoga Day on June 21, 2026, with large-scale programmes scheduled across all 54 districts of the state. In a bid to ensure the success of the celebrations, the state administration has assigned specific responsibilities to ministers, Members of Parliament and legislators, who will actively participate in the events alongside local officials.

The government aims to make this year's Yoga Day one of the largest public outreach initiatives, promoting the importance of yoga and encouraging citizens to adopt healthier lifestyles.

CM, President to attend state-level event in Jabalpur

The state-level flagship programme will be held in Jabalpur, where Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav will lead the celebrations. The event is expected to gain further prominence with the presence of President Droupadi Murmu, who will attend the event as the chief guest.

Several senior members of the state cabinet are also scheduled to participate in the Jabalpur programme. Among them are Deputy Chief Minister Jagdish Devda and ministers Prahlad Patel, Rakesh Singh, and Inder Singh Parmar, who will join the state-level gathering and take part in the yoga session.

To ensure widespread participation, the government has delegated responsibilities across districts. Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla will attend the Yoga Day event in Rewa, where he will join local residents in performing yoga exercises.

In the state capital Bhopal, the responsibility for overseeing the programme has been entrusted to minister Krishna Gaur. Similar directions have been issued to ministers, MPs and MLAs across the state, instructing them to participate in local celebrations and encourage public involvement.

Officials said the coordinated effort is intended to strengthen public engagement and ensure the smooth execution of programmes at every level.

Focus on public health and wellness

The state government has emphasised that the primary objective of the initiative is to take yoga to every section of society and spread awareness about the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. To achieve this, large-scale community yoga sessions will be organised in urban as well as rural areas.

Administrative departments have been directed to make comprehensive arrangements, including venue management, participant coordination and logistical support, to ensure the successful conduct of the events.

Enthusiasm builds across the state

Special programmes are also planned in districts such as Pandhurna, where local civic representatives, including the Municipal Council Chairperson, will participate in the celebrations.

The government has claimed that this year's International Yoga Day is generating unprecedented enthusiasm across Madhya Pradesh. District administrations have been instructed to ensure all necessary facilities so that maximum public participation can be achieved.
