Maharashtra HSC Results 2026 announced: Pass rate settles at 89.79%, a decline from last year; girls maintain lead
The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) on Saturday declared the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) Class 12 results for the academic year 2025-26, posting an overall pass percentage of 89.79%. The figures have reflected a marginal dip as compared to last year, and female students have again outperformed their male counterparts.
Girls secure pass rate of 93.15%
In the HSC exam results, the girls secured a pass percentage of 93.15%. Meanwhile, boys logged a pass rate of 86.80%. A gap of 6.35% points further reinforces the ongoing pattern of strong academic performance among the female students in Maharashtra’s board exams. However, the trend is not new. Last year, the board registered an overall pass percentage of 91.88%, in which the girls achieved 94.58% and boys trailed them at 89.51%.
Konkan leads in regional performances
Among the divisional boards of the state, Konkan captured the top spot with an impressive 94.14% pass percentage among regular students. The Latur division clocked the lowest success rate at 84.14%, reflecting regional disparities in academic performance.
Experts voice opinions on dip in performance
Despite strong individual performances, the overall pass percentage declined slightly from 2025. Experts from the education stream have attributed the dip to several factors, including examination difficulty levels and post-pandemic academic adjustments.
