CJP Founder Abhijeet Dipke slapped ahead of Jaipur protest; he vows to continue campaign against exam irregularities
Rajasthan's capital Jaipur saw a high-voltage drama on Monday after Abhijeet Dipke, founder of the online satirical movement, Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), was allegedly manhandled moments before he was about to address a gathering of protestors at the city’s Shaheed Smarak.
The incident took place shortly before the scheduled protest meeting, which Dipke had called for 3 pm as part of the organisation’s nationwide campaign against alleged irregularities in pan-India exams held across the country. Videos making rounds on social media show Dipke being carried on the shoulders of supporters when a group of unidentified people in the crowd pulled at his scarf, slapped him repeatedly and attempted to drag him down.
The incident triggered chaos at the venue, with CJP supporters questioning the security arrangements at the event.
Party questions administration’s role
After the incident, CJP launched a scathing verbal attack on the Rajasthan administration, accusing authorities of failing to ensure the deployment of adequate security. CJP state spokesperson Abhishek Jain Bittu alleged that the district administration had failed to prevent anti-social elements from disrupting the peaceful protest. His statement posted on ‘X’ read, “The manner in which the attack took place raises serious questions about the role of the police and the government. Instead of stopping anti-social elements, the administration allowed the situation to unfold.” He also demanded action against the officials tasked with maintaining law and order.
Meanwhile, the movement’s national spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka claimed that authorities had deliberately scheduled the protest at 3 pm amid scorching temperatures, allegedly to discourage participation of commoners.
Dipke reacts, says “Violence will not silence us”
Hours after the assault, Dipke struck a defiant note on ‘X’, asserting that the attack would not deter the movement. He posted a video message, saying, “I was assaulted while entering the protest site. No matter how many attacks take place, I will not raise my hand against anyone. Cowards resort to violence. I will not remain silent.”
He continued by saying that the movement’s supporters should stay focused on what he described as the core issue; accountability over alleged irregularities in exam processes. He reiterated the demand for Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation, adding that the movement would stay in force through peaceful means regardless of intimidation or attacks.
CJP began protests from New Delhi
The CJP, which emerged online in May 2026 amid public outrage over the Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant’s remarks, has rapidly built a substantial online following by adopting the term ‘cockroach’ as a symbol of resistance.
The organisation staged its first-ever protest in New Delhi on June 6 at Jantar Mantar. Subsequent demonstrations were then held in other cities like Pune, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Bengaluru and Amritsar.
