Bihar Court grants interim relief to Khan sir in coaching centre firing case
A major development surfaced in the Patna coaching centre firing case involving educator Faisal Khan, popularly known as Khan sir on Saturday, as a Bihar court granted interim protection to him, while hearing his anticipatory bail plea.
The court extended an earlier "no coercive action’ order and directed the cops not to take any stringent action against Khan until the next date of the hearing. The relief comes in the thick of an ongoing probe into a firing and vandalism incident which took place outside Khan’s coaching institute, “Khan Global Studies” in Patna earlier this month.
FIR registered after incident unfolded on June 2
The case dates back to June 2, 2026, when a group of unidentified persons allegedly vandalised the premises of Khan Global Studies and pelted stones at the coaching centre late at night.
Subsequently, the Patna Police registered an FIR against Khan sir and two other persons in connection with the case. The case was registered a few days after the alleged attack on the institute.
According to a statement issued by the City Superintendent of Police (CSP), Patna, the incident took place at approximately 10:10 pm. Following the vandalism, the police launched an in-depth probe into the events surrounding the attack.
2 security guards arrested after video shows them firing shots in air
During the probe, police reportedly came across CCTV footage which allegedly showed two men firing shots into the air after stone-pelting and vandalism had unfolded. After the verification of the clip, the cops identified the duo as security guards attached to Khan sir’s coaching institute. Both of them were arrested thereafter.
Police officials familiar with the case said that the arrests, coupled with the recovery of weapons and findings from the investigation, led to the inclusion of Khan sir and two others in the FIR under provisions pertaining to abetment and the Arms Act.
However, the allegations are still being probed and no final conclusions have been reached regarding the role of those named in the case.
Cops urge students to remain calm
In wake of the incident, Patna Police also urged the students not to become influenced by rivalry or competition among coaching institutes in the city. They appealed to the student community to exercise restraint and avoid being drawn into disputes linked to the highly competitive coaching sector.
